About Us

Tailored to meet the unique needs of every school, we combine high-quality ingredients, diverse menus, and interactive food experiences that foster healthy eating habits and support students' overall wellbeing.

Our programme goes beyond traditional catering, incorporating innovative, student-driven menus crafted with student, staff, and parent input. We embrace sustainability, with initiatives like seasonal local sourcing, plant-rich meals, and waste reduction strategies aligned with Coolfood, Pro Veg and Food For Life. Our BlueRunner pre-ordering system helps to streamline operations, reduce wait times, and support real-time dietary tracking, creating a safer and more personalised dining experience.

Our catering team

As well as being made from top ingredients, our food is prepared by our team of well trained, dedicated cooks.

In our schools, many of our employees are parents themselves, so they know just how to provide a welcoming and enjoyable lunchtime experience for young learners.

Partners and Awarding Bodies

We know we serve great food, but we don’t expect you to take our word for it! That’s why we follow the Soil Association's Food For Life Served Here standards. They audit us to make sure we're using fresh ingredients which are free from undesirable additives and trans fats, are better for animal welfare, and comply with national nutrition standards.

We've also been recognised by other awarding bodies for our work, as we prioritise variety, inclusivity, and adherence to high nutritional standards to ensure a meaningful dining experience for all students.

Sustainability

At ISS, our global sustainability strategy focuses on three key targets; to achieve Net Zero in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and scope 3 by 2040, reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of our food by 25% by 2030 and reduce food waste across the business by 50% by 2027.

Our strategy is no different when it comes to education. In 2021, we launched Roots For The Future, offering reduced meat recipes which are lower in saturated fat and help to reduce our carbon footprint in schools. In secondary schools, our partnership with Coolfood, an initiative from the World Resources Institute means students can enjoy plant-rich, low-carbon meals while meeting a stringent nutrient criteria.

And by sourcing ingredients locally and increasing plant-based options, we reduce food miles and actively work towards a 25% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030. Regular sustainability reports track progress on waste reduction, carbon footprint improvements, and food quality metrics, to ensure that we continue to progress on sustainability within our schools.
